Stephen served as Associate Pastor in Queens Park Baptist Church (Glasgow) from 1992 to 2005, when he moved North to take up the call at Sheddocksley Baptist Church. Stephen oversees the main pastoral and teaching ministries of the church, as well as managing the rapidly growing staff team. Stephen currently serves on a number of citywide and national bodies – Street Pastors, HOPE counselling, Mwana ministries, Baptist Union Board of Ministry as well as chaplain to our local primary and secondary schools.
Stephen is married to Eunice and they have three (big) kids – he is an armchair football supporter and fair-weather golfer when he is not spending time with the family or messing up a DIY project…
Simon has been part of the church family at Sheddocksley Baptist Church since moving to Aberdeen in 1996 (when he was just a youngster!). He has led worship and youth ministry for many years, and has been serving on the church leadership team since 2004.
In 2010 Simon left his job in the oil industry to accept the call to full time ministry as our Assistant Pastor. He now supports and oversees Community Groups, Discipleship, youth, CAP Money, and is closely involved with our two local high schools as well as studying Divinity part-time at Aberdeen University.
Simon is married to Karen and together they raise 3 bouncing boys who give them endless joy and exhaustion all at the same time. His greatest pleasures in life other than family are football, coffee, and music… not always in that order!
Anna has been part of the church family at Sheddocksley Baptist Church since her student days in 1994 when she travelled from Orkney to Aberdeen to study Occupational therapy. She since married Alan and made Aberdeen her home. In 2012 Anna joined the church staff working part-time as ‘Children and Families Worker’.
Anna has led women’s and children’s ministry for many years, and has a heart to see kids and families thrive in the fullness of life that Jesus intended! She now supports and oversees a number of church-based groups such as pre-school and women’s groups, holiday clubs, Children’s church (Sunday Club) and is closely involved with our local Primary schools.
Anna is married to Alan and together they raise 3 kids as well as fostering young children. In a quiet moment Anna likes to sit with her feet up, some chocolate about hand, and ‘Downtown Abbey’ on the telly. Alternatively she enjoys doing something a bit arty or musical.. and when exercise is lacking then swimming is the sport of choice.
Bridget Sunderland originally comes from the West Coast but she spent most of her childhood growing up in Edinburgh. She became a Christian through a youth outreach programme in England and felt called into Youth Ministry pretty much straight away. Bridget has been involved in numerous youth projects over the last ten years both voluntary as well as work based. She followed this call to South Africa where she took a year’s youth intern programme with Scripture Union before moving to Aberdeen to study Divinity at Aberdeen University.
During University she started working for a youth charity in Aberdeen as a Community Development worker spending most of her time working in high schools, running PSE classes, school based youth programmes as well as setting up a girls youth project in Torry. It was from here she felt called into church based Youth Ministry. Her heart is for young people across the city to fully experience and encounter Jesus Christ and to know the life he calls them to and their important part in bring God’s kingdom here to Aberdeen City. She is passionate about equipping and growing new Christian leaders and sees young people as being a key part to a thriving future of Aberdeen.
Bridget is passionate about many things, some of which include: counselling (She is still studying and hopes to be able to use these skills in the work she does with young people), catching up with friends over coffee and cake, any food in general is always a winner! Music (she plays the violin and used to be in a Ceilidh band) sport – specifically going to the gym for a spinning class, skiing, Riding, taking on any challenge such as a Tough Mudda and going for walks with her husband Tom! She also love films and will take any chance to go to the cinema when she can.
